STATEN ISLAND FERRY

The Staten Island Ferry is a FREE service provided by the City of New York. 


The ferries operates 24/7 a day, 7 days a week with a frequent service schedule (Every 15 minutes on peak hours & Every 30 minutes at other times and Weekends) that departs from St. George Ferry Terminal.


The route runs 8.4 km between the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Staten Island. It takes around 25 minutes and you will get to enjoy stunning view of Lower Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge and Ellis Island.

STATUE OF LIBERTY

The Statue of Liberty was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States. It is recognized as a symbol of freedom and democracy. 


We grab some snacks in Staten Island Ferry Terminal before boarding the ferry.

 

WORLD TRADE CENTER

The World Trade Center complex is surrounded with a total of seven buildings (1-7 World Trade Center). The main Twin Towers was completed in 1973 - One World Trade Trade Center (North Tower) & Two World Trade Center (South Tower).

ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER

One World Observatory is at the top of One World Trade Center, on the 100th, 101st & 102nd floor of the building. You will take an incredible Sky Pod Elevator ride to the top where you get to view 360 degrees view of New York City 

 

THE SPHERE

The Sphere was an artwork by German artist Fritz Koenig that was originally placed in the Austin J. Tobin Plaza, right in the middle of the World Trade Center. The aftermath of the 9/11 attack caused some damage to The Sphere however it was mostly intact. After the attack, it was moved to Liberty Park overlooking the 9/11 Memorial. It was later transform into a symbol of resilience and strength.

9/11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is a tribute of remembrance honoring the people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 and the World Trade Center Bombing on February 26, 1993.

Night

OCULUS

The Oculus is the World Trade Center Transportation Hub with train station, plaza and shopping mall designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. It is located adjacent to the memorial site for the 9/11 attacks. 


The exterior of the building comprising steel ribs and panes of glass resembles "a bird flying from the hands of a child," bringing a sense of hope to a site of tragedy.


Night


The interior is known for its stark white, sculptural entry way with an illuminated main hall. The "Way of Light" signifies the end of 9/11 tragedy and the beginning of the reconstruction.

ZUCOTTI PARK

Zucotti Park is a privately owned public park that was rebuilt after being damaged by the events of 9/11. The park is illuminated with lights at night that really brings up the Christmas vibe.
The illuminating lights lit up the park at night.
